WBO players can make significant contributions to Area 2 - Musical Structure in the western classical tradition, drawing on demonstrated examples from the 16th-18th centuries. They can also show these in the original manuscript or printed notations. Area 3 - Music for Special Occasions - can be a springboard for more detailed study of form, tonality, timbre and the relationship of words and music. Players can offer advice on the performance styles of baroque and classical music and how these may differ from later traditions.
